We are looking for a strategic manager operational components and resources (finance, personnel and facilities) of the Center for Molecular Medicine. The appointment is for one year initially.

Dit ga je doen

Together with the Scientific Head of the Center for Molecular Medicine (CMM), you will be responsible for planning and monitoring departmental resources, including finance, personnel, and facilities. In this role, you contribute directly to the impact of the research agenda and research output at UMC Utrecht. Your responsibilities include aligning and coordinating with financial controllers on resources and budget for the 20 research groups, five facilities, and educational pillars.

As part of your role, you will oversee people management, career development, and coaching within the department. You will also supervise the activities of the CMM secretariat, manage purchases of consumables and equipment, and coordinate general lab operations. In addition, you will participate in biweekly operational business meetings of the Division Laboratories, Pharmacy, and Biomedical Genetics, addressing department-wide topics.

Supporting the CMM Board in general management, you will play a key role in setting and achieving departmental goals. Together, you will help shape the direction of CMM and contribute to UMCU’s mission. Furthermore, you will map, plan, and recruit resources in collaboration with the Head of the Department and the CMM Board, which includes all 20 principal investigators and facility managers, to accomplish CMM's vision and strategy.

Hier ga je werken

The Center for Molecular Medicine (CMM), embedded in the University Medical Center Utrecht (UMCU), the Netherlands, performs cutting-edge biomedical research to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying human diseases. The department (>180 people) performs multidisciplinary fundamental and translational research in relation to a variety of diseases, including cancer and genetic disorders. The highly collaborative nature within the CMM and the use of state-of-the-art technologies is key to our success, and enables the study of disease-causing mechanisms at different scales; from single genes and molecules to organisms. We have in-house facilities for genomics, proteomics, spatial omics,  metabolomics, and advanced light- and electron-microscopy. In addition, we have an in-house bioinformatics support facility. The CMM is committed to striving for clinical translation and academic entrepreneurship to increase the impact of fundamental science discoveries, and innovate diagnosis and treatment of human disease. In addition, we educate the next generation of biomedical professionals at the level of BSc, MSc, PhD and Tenure track Principal Investigators. CMM's finances rely heavily (2/3) on externally funded projects (e.g. EU, NWO, KWF, TKI).
